Portico Church will be engaging the season of Lent as an opportunity to go before the Lord in prayer as a unified people. As Portico begins a new season, it’s critical that we do it on bended knee before God. Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, reflection, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It was probably inspired by Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness and has been celebrated as early as 325 AD (following the Council of Nicea). Celebrating Lent is not a commandment (nor is Good Friday) but has been embraced by the Church throughout history as a rhythm that supports spiritual vitality and worship. We will gather together on Wednesday, March 5th from 6:30-7:30pm in worship & prayer. All are welcome to join!
