PORTICO KIDS | WHAT TO EXPECT

SAFETY Policies And Procedures During Coronavirus (COVID-19):

Portico Kids will always consider the health and safety of our children and of our Volunteer Team a top priority. We are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health (TJHD). In line with safety measures, we are implementing the following protocols and policies in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Portico Kids Policy - Effective April 3, 2022
As of April 3rd, Portico Church will be changing our COVID policy to reflect CDC guidelines. The CDC has decided that masks are optional for schools and for the general public. This means the decision to wear a mask is voluntary. Please respect the decisions of your brothers and sisters in Christ in this matter. We are called to love one another as Christ loved us (John 13:34-35).

These new recommendations include children, meaning masks will also be optional for our children within Portico Kids, as they are in schools in Virginia. We will also be discontinuing temperature checks at Check-In.

We trust you all to continue to abide by our sick child policy. For the safety of the children in our ministry areas and our volunteers, children who have experienced any of these symptoms within the past 24 hours will be asked to stay home or stay with their parents during service:
  • Fever of 100 or greater: Must be fever-free without the use of medications for 24 hours
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Chills
  • Sore throat
  • Swollen glands
  • Pink Eye, red or runny eyes (without antibiotics)
  • Any illness for which a doctor has prescribed antibiotics: Must be on the antibiotics for 24 hours before returning
  • Very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night
  • Rash of unknown origin, or that causes the child too much discomfort
  • Uncovered sores
  • Any symptoms of contagious diseases (flu, chicken pox, measles, mumps, scarlet fever, croup, 5th disease)

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Daniel Kwak, the Pastor of Family Ministries.

Thank you for your continued service to Future Generations at Portico! And for entrusting us with your children. Portico Kids couldn’t function without our families or volunteers.

We look forward to serving your family in Portico Kids!

The Nursery | A Safe Place for our Littlest Ones (6 Weeks Old - Crawling)

The Nursery is a loving place for our youngest Portico kids. Volunteers in the Nursery will spend time playing, talking, reading, singing and praying with your little one. Napping is a common pastime in the Nursery too, and there is a dedicated room dedicated to sleepy little ones. Volunteers are also happy to give your child a bottle from home. Please have as much of the bottle prepared ahead of time with water in a container and the formula pre-measured. Volunteers are not able to leave the room to get or heat bottles or water during the service.

To serve you best, please label all of your child’s things before dropping them off.

Following the Bible story, kids will continue to play until it is time for them to be picked up. Parents/guardians should receive a take-home sheet and memory verse card for each new lesson.
