Connect

Connect is our ministry to 6th-12th graders with the purpose of fostering a community
of students passionate about Being and Building the Church.

When we meet.

Get Connected. Go Deeper.

We worship together with the gathered church on Sunday mornings either at the 9am or 11am service. We believe that it is important for students to be a part of the church body, whether it's worshipping with their family or using their gifts to serve in various ministries. Formation takes place each Sunday morning between 10:15-11:00am and classes are divided into MS + HS groups, where students will dig into Scripture with their teachers.

We meet as a large group for MDWK on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm. The first Thursday each month is called 'YTH NIGHT' and we encourage students to invite their friends out for a night of fun, fellowship, and games! On the second and third Thursday of each month, we meet for worship and teaching before we break up into smaller groups for discussion. On the fourth Thursday, students will meet in homes with their Life Groups (gender + age based) to build deeper relationships with one another.

To find out more about how you can get involved, please email Pastor Daniel at [email protected].

What's Connect About?

Portico's Connect student ministry focuses on building and strengthening relationships with students around the person of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to see the Gospel radically transform our students as well as transform their relationships with God and others. We’re guided by three principles:

Discovering Christ Personally

The Gospel of Christ is a lot like a rock being dropped into water; when it collides with our hearts, it is going to make waves. When we discover our Savior for the first time our lives are going to look different from that point until eternity. Connect is a place where students will always have a chance to discover Jesus through the reading and teaching of scripture.

Deepening in Christ Together

God designed us to be relational with him and with others; we can’t do it alone. Community with others helps us deepen in our understanding of Christ’s life means for our life. Community also gives us the opportunity to help others understand the gospel for their own life. We can’t help each other if we don’t need each other. Connect is a place where students will always give students that chance to deepen in Christ with one another through one-to-one mentoring as well as group discussions and prayer.

Sharing Christ with Others

We believe that the world’s greatest need is a redeemed relationship with God and until the world knows him, she will never be happy. Connect is a place where we equip and grow students to share Christ with others in their friendships, with the City and with the world.
